About Me

Writing Instructor • Author • Traveler

Welcome! I'm a writing instructor with 27 years of experience teaching middle school language arts, where I’ve had the joy of guiding thousands of students as they discover their voices and explore their unique writing styles. I understand the creative energy and vulnerability that comes with being a young writer, and I strive to create an environment that supports growth, risk-taking, and confidence. Many of my students have gone on to win state-level writing contests, and nothing makes me prouder than seeing them succeed.

In addition to teaching, I’m also an award-winning author of young adult and children’s literature. My poem “27” was published in the Number S#gns Poetry Project in April 2024, and my picture book manuscript Salty Kisses and Fire Engine Sunsets won first place in the Writer’s Digest competition.

I take any chance to travel—especially if it involves a passport. When I’m not writing or wandering, I’m usually reading, gardening, or enjoying outdoor activities.

Thanks for stopping by—I’m glad you’re here.

"She makes writing fun, and her enthusiasm is catchy and motivating!!! Your kids will enjoy her workshop!!!"
